I recently attended Cruise Planners' Annual Convention.  It was held part on land and part on sea!  What a great event this was.  We had wonderful speakers from Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises & Azamara Cruises, Carnival…and the list goes on.  It was all very invigorating.  But I was constantly overhearing during breaks and such how everyone is worried about the economy.  I may have said this before, and if I haven't…I SHOULD have…Cruising is the BEST VALUE for your money.  In fact, you can probably save money by taking a cruise.  Here's what I'm talking about…look at everything that is included in a cruise vacation:  room, port to port transportation, breakfast, lunch, dinner (unless you choose to eat at a specialty restaurant),  midnight buffet, sports activities, parties, entertainment, disco, nightclub shows.  Just try to get all of that into a land based vacation…it's very difficult to do without costing you an arm and a leg! 

 

Some of the speakers at our convention touched on this subject…as well as the fact that most Americans have never cruised before.  WOW, now that was an interesting statistic.  Sure, I've been on a few cruises.  But I started cruising before I started selling cruises.  I decided to sell cruises because I realized the value of cruising.  We have only been on 2 land-based vacations since we started cruising, and they were both at Sandals Resorts.  The closest value there is to cruising.

 

The part of our convention that was at sea was on board the BRAND NEW Holland America Eurodam!  What a truly wonderful experience that was!  It still smelled new!!  Unfortunately, Joel and I were not able to get reservations at their specialty dining venues which are Pinnacle Grill and Tamarind.  However, Tamarind is open for lunch serving Dim Sum and we were able to go and enjoy a very nice lunch one afternoon. 

 

Even if you spend a little extra money to be on a more sophisticated line of ship, you still can't beat the value.  Now add in to everything I mentioned above the fact that this level of sophistication just gives you a very relaxed feel…and WOW…how can I make myself take a busy, expensive land based vacation again!? 

 

Our next event that we are attending is a naming ceremony/mini cruise on board Ruby Princess in November.  Stay tuned…maybe I'll tell you about that experience as well!!
